GOG announced that the classic Westwood title NOX will be inducted into its Preservation Program after topping a patron poll with 3,068 votes out of roughly 10,000 total. The vote pitted NOX against other legacy games such as Lands of Lore, Might and Magic 7, and Silver, with the runner‑up receiving 2,239 votes.
Released in early 2000, NOX arrived just months before Diablo II and was widely regarded as a strong contender for the era’s premier ARPG, only to be eclipsed by Blizzard’s blockbuster. GOG’s Preservation Program promises to keep the game runnable on modern systems for the foreseeable future, echoing the extensive overhaul the storefront performed on Thief when it entered the same program.
At the time of writing, NOX is on sale for $1.39 on GOG, with the discount lasting about 15 more hours. Purchasers will automatically benefit from any future compatibility updates GOG applies, making it an opportune moment for fans of classic RPGs to add the title to their libraries.
