Stranger Than Heaven's combat system has been completely revamped, offering a more substantial shift in the Like a Dragon fighting formula. The new system, which utilizes the controller's four shoulder buttons to control the protagonist's left and right fists, feels incredibly satisfying to pull off once mastered.
The game's combat is more grounded and realistic, with a greater emphasis on strategy and timing. However, it's not without its issues, including a soft lock-on system that can occasionally slip, leaving the player vulnerable to attacks.
Despite these issues, the game's dramatic shakeup of the combat system leaves a positive impression, and its challenging brawling system is a welcome change. The game is set to release in January 2027, and with its fresh-feeling fighting system, it's determined to establish its own identity within the Like a Dragon saga.
