Mel Brooks, the original writer and director, sent a funny video message, joking about his age and inability to wear the elaborate makeup for his character Yogurt, who will now be a digital character with Brooks providing the voice.
The film's writers and producers, including Josh Gad, discussed the sequel's potential to comment on the current age of nostalgia and the abundance of Star Wars content to parody. Gad also promised a tribute to the late John Candy, who starred in the original film.
