At the Kinetic Publishing Showcase, Sam Barlow revealed his next project, Precognition, a sci‑fi thriller developed with horror filmmaker Brandon Cronenberg. The collaboration merges Barlow's Half Mermaid Productions with Cronenberg’s cinematic sensibility, aiming for an "authentic sci‑fi horror experience" that pushes the boundaries of interactive storytelling.
Precognition follows Diana, a woman implanted with experimental tech that grants her visions of possible futures. By recording those glimpses in her present‑day memory, players can alter the outcomes they’ve already seen, creating a loop of cause and effect reminiscent of Cassandra myths and quantum theory. Barlow said the team focused on non‑linear narrative and player agency, while Cronenberg highlighted the subjective, experiential horror that both his films and Barlow’s previous games—Immortality and Her Story—share.

The title promises FMV cinematics, branching storylines, and a high degree of freedom, echoing Immortality’s acclaimed 95% review score. Precognition is slated for a spring 2028 launch and is already available to add to a Steam wishlist, giving fans a clear window to track its progress.
