A new milsim game, Crossfire, has been announced, backed by Smilegate, the publisher of Korea's Counter-Strike. However, it's not the first game with this name, as Smilegate's own Crossfire game received a singleplayer mode, CrossfireX, developed by Remedy.
CrossfireX's campaigns were short, lasting around three hours, and featured a mix of street-to-street firefights and setpiece design. Despite some smart design choices, the game was poorly received and shut down just over a year after launch.

The campaigns showed glimpses of Remedy's signature style, particularly in a dreamlike sequence where the protagonist navigates his own house. However, the game's melodrama and lack of subtlety made it feel like a departure from Remedy's usual work.
