Oscar‑winning director Christopher Nolan told YouTube channel HugoDécrypte that artificial intelligence is “a Trojan horse that everybody knows the Greeks are inside,” adding that the horse is “transparent, made of glass, and everyone can see what’s happening inside.”
Nolan made the remarks during a promotion for his upcoming film The Odyssey, expanding on earlier comments about “AI slop” and the younger generation’s rejection of the technology. He argued that while AI can deliver great gifts, its benefits will only be realized if the public questions both the technology and the motives of its creators, rather than accepting it blindly.
His comments echo recent viral clips of students booing AI references at graduations, underscoring a growing youth backlash against the tech’s influence. At the same time, industry leaders continue to tout AI’s promise, making Nolan’s call for transparent scrutiny especially timely as the debate over AI’s role in society intensifies.
