Nintendo has filed takedown requests removing 400 additional Switch emulator repositories from GitHub, expanding its ongoing campaign against piracy tools.
The latest purge targets seven more emulator projects, including popular forks and niche builds, signaling Nintendo’s escalating enforcement against unauthorized software distribution. The company has consistently used DMCA notices to remove repositories hosting Switch emulation tools, arguing they enable illegal copying of its games.
The move follows a pattern of aggressive legal action against emulator developers and hosts, with prior waves removing hundreds of repositories earlier this year. Nintendo’s stance remains unchanged: it views emulation as a piracy vector when used to play pirated games, despite some emulator projects operating in legal gray areas.
Developers behind the affected projects now face the choice to modify their code, relocate repositories, or shutter operations entirely.
