The future of the next *Mass Effect* game remains uncertain after Electronic Arts was acquired in a $20 billion private equity deal led by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. Emmanuel Rosier, a former EA senior manager now at Newzoo, suggests the new owners are unlikely to prioritize BioWare’s struggling studio or its dormant franchises like *Ultima* and *Wing Commander*.
Rosier expects EA to focus on its sports and esports divisions, particularly European football and esports, due to regional synergies with the new investors. He also doubts BioWare will receive significant funding, leaving the next *Mass Effect* in limbo. "I will believe it when I see it," he says, citing EA’s history of shelving projects without warning.

BioWare has remained quiet about development progress, but Rosier notes the studio’s projects often take years to materialize. With EA’s new leadership likely to favor financially sound decisions, the survival of *Mass Effect* and other mid-tier IPs is far from guaranteed.
