The medieval-themed survival horror series Ecstatica, created by Andrew Spencer, is being re-released. The games, known for their distinctive ellipsoid art style, will be available on Steam and GOG later this year.
The series, which includes two instalments released in 1994 and 1997, features a unique art style that uses ellipsoids instead of polygonal character models. This style, which was written by Spencer himself, allows for more rounded and human-like characters.

Ecstatica 1 and 2 will be part of a new round of SNEG reissues, which also includes other classic games such as Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor and Dark Earth. While the games may feel stiff and unmanageable to modern players, their unique art style and historical significance make them worth playing.
