Daybreak Games has left the door open for new classes and races in EverQuest Legends, a modernized take on the 1999 MMO. Speaking on a recent Twitch stream, executive producer David Youssefi said the team would "definitely" consider adding them, though Kunark—the next expansion—won’t include them. "I'm sure we would" add new classes and races in the longer-term vision of the game, Youssefi said, with Game Jawn CEO Eda Spause agreeing.
The developers stressed these are aspirational plans, not immediate commitments. Lead content designer Eric Wellman noted the decision hinges on "how much work" and whether it’s "worth the work." Spause added that while the idea is appealing, the team’s current workload makes it uncertain. The comments reflect a cautious optimism rather than a firm roadmap.

EverQuest Legends already features the catlike kerran race and revamped zones, but new classes would broaden playstyles in a game built around build crafting and loot farming. The team hasn’t detailed what those classes might look like, though EverQuest’s history suggests creative, niche options. For now, players can expect the Kunark expansion to focus on existing content rather than additions.
